Håndlavet offers furniture and custom woodworking. We design, build and finish all of our products in our 9000 sq ft woodworking facility located in Guilford, CT. While handwork is the focus, the shop is fully equipped for projects of any scale with access to production equipment including 5 axis CNC and commercial spray finishing and industrial material handling.

Matthew Barnes has been a woodworker and craftsman for over 20 years, trained in wooden boat building and restoration, he won a grant in 2016 to apprentice at the Viking Ship Museum in Denmark. Inspired by the people, culture, craftmanship, and work ethic of the region, Matt created Håndlavet in 2018 to bring those traditions and sensibilities home.
Inspired by the vision, Tucker Yaro immediately joined forces with Matt. Also a trained boat builder, Tucker performs the CAD design and CNC programming and operation. Håndlavet joins cutting edge technology with hand made tradition.
Tucker mills a domestic live oak log, prized for it’s durability and shapes for curved parts: a Håndlavet specialty.
